The hotel was in a quiet residential area, closer to the center of St Julians (15 mins walk) than Sliema (30 mins walk).
It was a few minutes walk to the sea and promenade, but this was down a steep hill, so probably not suitable for those with mobility problems. There was also a bus stop on the promenade which would take you into Sliema and Valetta and the other way into St Julians.

We went with Thomson and our rep was excellent. She'd been in the resort for two years and had great knowledge and bent over backwards to see you had a good holiday.

We took just a B + B option.
The breakfast was not that good - an attempt at an English breakfast but with frankfurters and scrambled egg tasting like it was made from egg powder - not good!
There were three restaurants nearby which were pretty good and although we didn't have evening meals in the hotel, we did have the BBQ one night which I enjoyed. Snacks were only available at the hotel between 12 and 3pm (no late breakfast I'm afraid).

The hotel was clean although a bit battered in places.
There were two pools, one freshwater and one sea water (very relaxing).
The staff were friendly, although sometimes the bar staff were very busy without enough support, and you had to wait.
The room was pleasant with a TV and hairdryer. Cleaning standards were good.
Evening entertainment seemed a bit hit and miss.

On the whole, it was a good base for us to go out day and night or lounge by the pool if we wanted.
Someone who wants to stay in the hotel for good food and entertainment, like you'd get in the big Spanish hotels may be disappointed.

However, I would be happy to go there again as it provided everything I needed at a reasonable price and Malta is such a great place that it would be a shame to spend your time there cooped up in a hotel.

I enjoyed St Julian's as it provided the right level of evening entertainment for me - not too loud, not too quiet.

Top restaurant was Paparazzi - not traditional Maltese Fare, but the best ribs I've ever had. The casino is also worth a visit and the dinner we had there was very good too.
