3 star hotel on the main st approx 2km from the harbour.
Approx 300 rooms recently added on a new part. Consequently some of
the rooms were old and some spanking new.
Initially they put
us into the old quarter overlooking a field but I haggled a bit for a
newer room overlooking the pool and got quite a good upgrade for £40 for
the fortnight. We only went bed and breakfast but there was a half
board facility. The Breakfast was ok but a bit basic and the breakfast
room was in the old part of the hotel and a little on the shabby side. The
staff were non too quick at clearing the tables so we sometimes had to
hunt to find a clean one. The dining room for the evening meal was
in a newer part of the hotel and looked spacious and clean. There are two
courtyards in the hotel each with a pool, one more extensive than
the other. Both areas had plenty of sun beds and so there was no
competition from towel laden people intent on sabotage. But remember
we are talking the first week in January here and the hotel is half
full, so come the summer things could change.
There was an indoor pool as
well but this was the size of a postage stamp - more like a Jacuzzi
without the fizz, and a small gym with table tennis.
The room
we ended up in was ok for the three of us, but I bet for anyone with 2
kids it might get a bit cramped- normal unsuited facilities and
daily maid service.
Entertainment was a bit sparse. Ok if you
were traveling with Golden Years i.e. quiz, bingo etc but nothing of
note if you had kids. The staff were a bit harassed as well and
sometimes a bit stand-offish but I do not think that this was
anything personal just individuals having an off day. Most of the
staff were fine. Two good bars good selection of booze and quite
reasonably priced as well.
All in all I would give the hotel 7 out
of 10 and perhaps when I retire I might go back and visit it again. Definitely
a no no in the winter with kids..
