Wartime Picnic
On Sunday 14th June we visited the Watercress Line for their annual 'War On The Line' event.
With the Austins suitably dressed in blackout trim we established ourselves alongside the line for a picnic. After consuming our spam sandwiches we were treated to a nostalgic display by a Spitfire and Hurricane.
The cars all had headlight shields fitted and wing edges were painted white to comply with blackout regulations. Crews were dressed in period outfits with most of the ladies sporting Land Army uniforms. Many carried their gas masks and two even had tin helmets.
The afternoon was spent travelling the line and taking in the great atmosphere created by so many people making the effort to dress in 1940s style.
Thanks to Sue, Chris and Sheila for the photographs.
