Cippenham Grand Prix 2008
The Grand Prix is an event that started on 13th June 2006. Operating on Tuesday evenings within the general practice session at the Club, it is open to all members but it is hoped that new members who are not yet established in the Club's teams especially will enter and gain an introduction to competitive table tennis.

Description
A weekly event on Tuesday evenings with points awarded each week. The points are then aggregated over the period of the Grand Prix to determine the overall winner.
Eligibility
All members of the Club are welcome to play. It is hoped that it will be of special interest to new members of the Club as an introduction to competitive table tennis.
Duration
Grand Prix 18 (GP18): starts 28 October and runs until 2 December.
Awards
Trophies will be given to the top three players in each Grand Prix series.
Cost of playing
No additional cost – just your normal evening practice fee.
Format of the evening
You do not have to book – just turn up on the evening by 7:40pm.
Registration and draw at 7:40 pm.
Event starts at 7:50 pm and will be scheduled to finish by 10:00 pm.
Players will have to score games in which they are playing (just as you do in practice).
Management of the event will be by the Duty Officer.
Regulations
1. Eligibility: all members of the Club are eligible.
2. Format:
2.1. each week shall be a separate event but points won shall be aggregated to find the overall winner of each Grand Prix.
2.2. each match shall be the best of 5 games.
2.3. there shall be different formats depending on the number of players registering for each event and these are as shown in the Appendix (not attached to this web page)
3. Award of points:
3.1.in each weekly event:
3.1.1. the winner: 100 points;
3.2.2. the runner-up: 70 points;
3.3.3. the 3rd placed: 50 points;
3.3.4. the 4th placed: 40 points;
3.3.5. the 5th placed: 30 points;
3.3.6. the 6th placed: 20 points;
3.3.7. the 7th placed: 15 points;
3.3.8. the 8th placed: 10 points;
3.3.9. all other participants: 5 points;
3.3.10. when positions are not determined between themselves, then the aggregate points for those positions are shared.
4. Determination of positions:
4.1. The positions shall be determined by the number of points awarded;
4.2. In the event that two or more players are equal on points then their positions shall be determined by:
4.2.1. the highest number of first placed finishes in the series;
4.2.2. if still equal, the highest number of second placed finishes;
4.2.3. and if still equal, the highest number of third placed finishes, etc.
