The non-appearance of several players, including top seed Hari Gehlot, meant that he and three others were allowed in and what an impression they made. Pandja swept aside all his opponents to reach the final and then recovered from a 2-0 deficit to defeat Cippenham's own Robert Hansell. Robert, himself, had lost his opening match in the group to another scratch entry, local player Krzysztof Zemelka. The beaten semi-finalists were Yasir Mauthoor and Anthony Morris. Overall impression at the first running of a tournament in this format was very positive.

Three draws and two defeats were all the the Cippenham veterans' team could muster from the final weekend of VBL and they therefore slipped into one of the relegation positions in Division One, albeit with the highest number of points of any relegated side in any of the divisions. Diccon Gray was once again in magnificent form and Paul Baker produced some good results but overall the team performance was not quite enough.

Cippenham Outlaws (Paul Baker; David Hayes; Ashley Shaw; Graham Trimming; Sue Hayes) captured the Slough League title tonight by virtue of their defeat of Burnham Panthers 9-1. Mel can feel pleased with her performance after winning three of her ten matches in the higher strata.

A new two-day event along the same lines as the established Summer Festival, an open tournament of 1-star status. Its value to the Club was, however, five stars as a huge entry kept Organizer Ken Phillips and sixteen tables busy for two days. Two wins each for Eddie Mitchell (U14/U12) and Rachel Farquhar (I14/U13) and one for Melanie Farquhar (U18) kept the local flags flying.

British League 3rd Weekend 8.1.06

The second team came from behind in both matches to beat both Kingshurst Bribar and Ashford 5-3 with Steve Buck remaining unbeaten all day. Portuguese Youth Open 17-18.12.05
Bradley Evans played a starring role as he and brother Gavin, masquerading as England B, won the boys' team event at the Portuguese Youth Open. Wins against Spain A 3-1, Italy A 3-1 and Portugal B 3-0 put them into the semi-final against France A. Two wins from Bradley and the doubles gave England a 3-2 win, a result repeated in the final against Portugal A when both boys won one each and kept their unbeaten doubles record intact.

British League 2nd Weekend 10-11.12.05
A disappointing series of results and yet the second and third teams still both lie second in their divisions, just one point off the lead, with all to play for over the remainder of the season. The third team have Ashley Shaw, who won all eight of his matches, to thank for remaining unbeaten in Div 4, albeit three of the four matches were drawn. The second team in Div 2 suffered from an injury sustained by David Hayes in the Sunday morning practice and, after getting three points on Saturday, drew a blank on Sunday. Meanwhile, the Club's first team's annual visit to Devon in Div 1 proved its usual disappointment with only two points gained in a win over Reading rivals OLOP IMPACT.

David led 2-0 in games and held three match points in the fifth game of the final before Rob snatched victory 15-13.

Veterans' British League 1st Weekend 12-13.11.05
Cippenham finished the first weekend of the VBL in third place in Division 1 with one win, three draws and a solitary defeat in the final match. The division was so closely fought that this final Cippenham result (5-1) was the only match in the entire division not to finish either 3-3 or 4-2. The five points gained place Cippenham three behind leaders Fullerians and two above bottom placed Tameside. Diccon Gray was once again Cippenham's most consistent performer with eight wins from his ten encounters while Mike Rhodes and Paul Baker backed him up well with three wins apiece.
