Cippenham's 77-years old Georgia Veneer knocked out the holder of the Over-75 Women's Singles in Gothenburg before going on to reach the semi-final and gain a bronze medal. Cippenham Young Players' Summer Festival (1 Star Open) 26/27.6.99
Cippenham's first two-day open tournament proved a remarkable success with 85 players, all under the age of 14, breaking into the summer recess to take part in this 1 star event. Following the pattern created in the recent past Cippenham became the first club to run under-8 events, having been the first into the market with U9, U10 and U11 events over the past two years. The top events were all won by home club players with Warren Brooks and Gemma Chapman winning the U13 events by beating their Cippenham club mates Thomas Mitchell and Helen Smith in the finals. James Milton joined in the fun by winning the U11BS while Rebecca Tweedy and Myles Evans were runners-up in the U9GS and U8BS respectively. Of the visitors the most successful were Lauren Spink (Norfolk) who won both U11GS and U10GS and Harry Shahlaei (Gloucs) who did likewise in U10BS and U9BS.

National Team Finals 12/13.6.99
Teams from Cippenham Table Tennis Club's elite coaching group won three of the four national team competitions for juniors and cadets at Bury St. Edmunds. Never was the immense strength in depth of young talent at the Club more in evidence than in the finals of the two cadet (under-14) events in which all twelve players are coached at Cippenham. In the boys' Leach Cup, Slough (Thomas Mitchell; Bradley Evans; David Hayes) beat High Wycombe (Warren Brooks; Chris Hansell; Stuart Tweedy) 5-4 with a very young team - Thomas is the oldest at 12 while Bradley is still only 9! In the girls' event for the Hammersley Cup, Maidenhead (Gemma Chapman; Emma Human; Joanna Parker) beat Slough (Hannah Stone; Helen Smith; Francesca Parnell) 5-0. This completed the double for Maidenhead whose junior (under-17) team (Gemma Chapman; Jane Dickens; Emma Human) had won the Bromfield Trophy the day before with a final victory over Harlow 5-2.
