The Cippenham Series

New for Season 2008-9

A Grand Prix style series of 2-star open tournaments in senior, junior and veteran age groups.

The Cippenham Series will consist of 5 Senior, 3 Junior and 3 Veterans 2 star tournaments spanning 6 weekends throughout the 2008/09 season.

 Points won throughout the season’s tournaments will be totalled to determine the final positions in the Cippenham Series Table. How points will be awarded is detailed in Table B below.

At the conclusion of the Cippenham Series, there will be a prize fund for each event, see Table A below.  To be eligible for prize money, players must have played in 50% of the events in that category, i.e. at least 3 Senior events or at least 2 Junior or Veteran events.  Subject to this eligibility, prize money shall be awarded to those players finishing in the highest positions in the Cippenham Series Table.

• A preliminary round is one where more than half of the matches of a round are byes.

• Points shown for the knock-out stage are the total points awarded for that stage (e.g. a person eliminated after 4 rounds would receive 25 points plus the points from the group stage).

• If an event is not completed then competitors still left in will be credited with the average of the points won at the time of the event being abandoned, e.g. if an event is abandoned with 1 semi-final (round 5) still to be played then those semi-finalists would receive 70 points (half of 40 points plus 100 points) for the knock-out stage; the other finalist would receive 82 points (half of 64 plus 100 points).

• The points shown for the knock-out stage will be awarded for the Main (Championship) events, points will also be awarded for the knock-out stage of the Consolation events, but will be 50% of those shown, eg. a player losing in the third round of the Consolation event would receive 8 points.

• Where there less than 8 entries for an event then that event may be run as a Round Robin.  The winner and runner up will be credited as though they were winner and runner-up of the knock-out stage.  For groups of  5, 6 or 7 the 3^rd & 4^th placed players in the group will be credited as though they were losing semi-finalists.

• Where players have an equal number of points, the players will be ranked according to the number of tournaments they have participated in.  Players still equal will be declared in equal positions.
