NOTES RELATING TO LILLIPUT LANE BACK STAMP 1996
As a result of the takeover by ENESCO of LILLIPUT LANE completed in September 1994 two distinct back stamps exist, which can be best described in the following manner:-

At present research shows that the variety only exists for those pieces issued in January and March of 1996 and are listed on the attached sheet. Quiet obviously more research needs to be undertaken in respect of this rather unexpected variety in what is a mature manufacturing tradition. Those Cottages marked with * are known to exist in collections or with retailers. It must be remembered that this initial research was undertaken in 1996 and it is therefore possible that other varieties exist. at that stage it was also to early to anticipate whether any Secondary Market differential would exist, however in the long term some price variations may occur, as has become apparent with Nursery Cottage. However in my view I think this will be an isolated case and any further significant variations are unlikely to occur, particularly those with a short production run. Potential could be realised with THE BLUE BOAR & GOSSIP GATE, only time will tell.
As you will see anomalies already occur in the LAKELAND CHRISTMAS SERIES. The apparent variation is THE WINNOWS, as this bears the 1995 back stamp, will there be any out there with a 1996 back stamp? The only early 1996 introductions not considered are the PLATES, as they were discontinued in March. from information to date we know that the changes were undertaken in 1996, as illustrated by NURSERY & WASH DAY, further research will continue particularly as all are now retired and trickling onto the Secondary Market.
