The Mansion Investment Club

The Mansion Investment Club was formed in March 1998, following an advertisement in the local press for interested parties. The Proshare manual provided the basis for setting up the club, and the club has since remained affialiated to Proshare. The newly formed club first met in the building, shown to the left, a glorious old house which had become a pub, club, and restaurant over the years. However, it was demolished in 1999 to make way for a supermarket which opened in the Spring 2000. The Investment Club has been named after this original location for meetings. The club currently has 20 members, all interested in learning more and more about investing in stocks and shares, and the members' age group is principally around 45 to 55 with an exception or two (no names mentioned here), and our backgrounds are quite varied. Most of the club's members are 'internet surfers' and are able to obtain financial information from all sorts of sources. Additionally, the club contributes to CD Refs on a quarterly basis, and finds the information invaluable in the research of shares. The club's portfolio has had its ups and downs and is currently fairly stable despite the problems in the market at the present time. However, the club is positively managed and each member's worth is still substantial. The club has adopted a computerised trailing stop loss calculator to help take away the difficulties of 'when to sell', and as the price goes up, so the stop loss goes up. Our experiences since its adoption are good. We have prospective members in the wings waiting to join - not bad, considering the difficult financial climate!
We hope you find our club site interesting and informative, and if you have any suggestions on ways to improve, or would just like a chat, please do write to us. You will be assured of a reply.
