Orchestra ProfileTHE NATIONAL CHAMBER ORCHESTRA OF WALESThe National Chamber Orchestra of Wales, the Principality's foremost Independent Orchestra, is based in Swansea. In the short time it has been in existence, the Orchestra has completed numerous television series for the BBC, BBC CHOICE, HTV and S4C. There have been concert and televised performances at major venues throughout the country including the Brangwyn Hall in Swansea, Saint David's Hall and International Arena in Cardiff, and the Royal Albert Hall in London.
The NCOW has participated in many "Classic Spectaculars", including one in the presence of President Carter of the USA, and is the resident orchestra in the Classical Fanfare Celebrity Outdoor Concert Series, giving dozens of performances in stately homes and castles all over the U.K. in the summer months.
Equally at home in the studio, on the concert platform, or in the orchestra pit, the versatility of this small independent organisation is apparent in the variety of work undertaken - recording sessions, opera, ballet, television, festival appearances and public concerts etc.. Artists that have appeared recently with the NCOW include Carlo Rizzi, Charlotte Church and Leslie Garrett (television), Dame Gwyneth Jones, Dennis O'Neill and Jason Howard (Swansea Grand Theatre televised centenary concert), Bryn Terfel, Shân Cothi, Rebecca Evans and Leah Marian Jones (Gala concerts and television series); there was even a sell-out concert with the "Bootleg Beatles".
