About Bath UNA
Bath
& District Branch UNA (www.unabath.org.uk)
is a part-time voluntary organisation, run
by a voluntary committee, to bring together UNA Members and other people in and
around
Bath who are interested in the work of the United Nations and global affairs.
We
run a series of monthly meetings to raise
the profile of the UNA. At the moment, that is the current focus of the
local branch. Non-members of UNA are welcome to attend these meetings.
The local group is a branch of the national association, UNA-UK
(www.una.org.uk), which is the UK public point
of connection between both the UK
Foreign & Commonwealth Office (www.fco.gov.uk)
and the United Nations system
(www.un.org) . The main purpose of UNA-UK is to
assist in providing
information and education about the United Nations system.
We encourage people interested in global affairs to sign up as members of
UNA-UK (cost £6 p.a. for young people under 26 years), on the central
website (www.una.org.uk), to receive the
newsletter and also to participate in
branch meetings and the annual national policy conference relating to
world current affairs.
Both the UNA-UK and Bath & District Branch UNA were established around the
time of the establishment of the UN itself in 1945. The Right Worshipful the
Mayor of Bath is Patron of the Bath & District Branch.
Bath UNA may be able to work with a very small number of part-time volunteers,
who can be pro-active in developing and carrying out their own agreed
projects, under their own resources, and largely independent of committee
assistance, to assist in the aims and development of the Association.
