COPY OF THE NUNCUPATIVE WILL OF EDWARD GUY*

OF LONG CLAWSON Co LEICESTER, 1676.

 

 

"Be it remembered That on the third day of June in the eight and twentieth

yeare of the Raigne of our Soveraigne Lord Charles the second by the grace of

God of England Scotland ffrance and Ireland King Defender of the faith &c.

Annoq Dom' 1676 Edward Guy late whilst he lived of Claxton als Long Clawson in

the countie of Leicst, being then sick and weak of body but of perfect mind

and memorie and with an intent to make and declare his last Will and Testament

nuncupative or by word of mouth uttered and declared these words following or

words to the same effect viz: ffirst he did give and bequeath unto his wife

Elizabeth Guy all his goods moveable and immovable quick and dead paying all

his debts and discharging his funerall expences. And secondly he did nominate

and appoint her the afforesaid Elizabeth his wife to be the sole Executrix of

this his will nuncupative which premises the said Edward Guy did declare in

the presence and hearing of divers credible witnesses whose names are

hereunto sett viz: Robert Guy,

*This Edward Guy seems to have shared in the ruin that befel so many farmers

in the period following the Civil War.- J.P.G.
