MODERNISED ABSTRACT OF THE WILL OF SIR WILLIAM GUYE, CHAPLAIN TO THE RT. HON.LORD MARQUESS OF WINCHESTER, HIGH TREASURER OF ENGLAND, DATED 8 APRIL 1564.

 

I bequeath my soul to Almighty God, and my body to Christain burial.

To Mighell Guye, my kinsman, all such books as I now have in my chamber, to

use for his most commodity. And for the better help of his proceedings

therein, Mr. Robert Patens, minister, hath faithfully promised me, as well for

the profit that may be made of them, as also of such instruments of astronomy

now remaining also in my chamber, forand to my kinsman's use. And I bequeat to

my said kinsman all my apparel for part recompence taken in watching and

keeping me in the time of my sickness, saving my best gown, which I give to

James Williams' wife, for her great pains taken with me in my sickness.

All the rest of my goods, to my brother Robert Guye, whom I make my

executor; and I desire my friend, my said kinsman Mighell Guye, to be my

overseer.
