HUSBANDMAN 1617.

 

In the name of god amen the seventh daye of January in Ao Dn1 1616 & in the

foutenth yeare of his maiesties Raigne of England & of Scotland the ffiftith I

Richarde Guye of Clawson allias Claxton in ye countye of Leic. husbandman

beigne sicke in bodye but of perfect Remembrance god be praysed do make &

ordaine this my last will & testamente in maner & forme ffollowinge ffirst I

bequeath my soule vnto Almightie god trustinge to be saved by a liuelye faith

in Christ Jesu & my bodye to be buried in ye parish Church of Clawson Item I

give to the poore of ye p'ish ten shillings to go forward to ye vse of ye

poore I do give vnto Andrew Guye my sonne one howses one kill howses wth

ground to make him a foulde yarde & one portion of a Close Called by name ye

doue cote Close from his howse to ye wals course on ye north from maigney lane

all a longe ye old banke to ye East side of ye Close & ye sixt parte of ye

pfitt of ye dove howses & one portion of medowe in ye moore from ye hedge to

ye duble tithe & one oxgang of land wth medowe pasture & com'on & tethering

grasse thereto belonginge only ye nether end of ye stone medowe execpted It'm

my will is that my sonne Andrewe shall be in Choice at the age of seven &

twentye years whethr he will have one hundreth pounds or ye oxgang of land wth

ye appurtenances thereto belonginge paying vnto my daughtr Maragrett Guye ten

pounds when she accomplish the age of Eighteen years & yf ye saide Andrewe

Guye do departe this lyef wth out issue lawfully begotton then my will is to

descende to my sonne Edwarde Guye & ffor want of yssue of Edwarde bodye to

assend to my sonne William Guye Iten I give vnto Edwarde Guye my sonne xxti

pounds to be paid at the age of one & twentye years & if he do depart this

lyefe before he come to ye age of one & twentye years then my will is to go to

my five daughters to be equally devided amongst them Ut'm I do give vnto

Anne Guye Alice Guye Elner Guye & Elizabeth Guye my fower daughters every one

of them ten pounds to be paid at the age of one & twentye years & yf any of

them departe this lyef before ye come to the age of one & twentye years then

hir or ther parte to go to the rest of my daughters to be equally devided

amongst them Item my will is yt my brother Thomas Guye shall be maintained

wth meat drinke washinge & app'ell & lodging at ye charges of my executors

Item my will is that Elizabeth Halley shall have a bed roome at ye discretion

& setting forth of my overseers during her naturall lyefe Item I do give vnto

William Guye my sonne certayne Eare loomes one table one fframe wth stooles

thereto belonginge in the howse one fire iron the recings and all yt belonge

thereto It'm in ye Kitchinge one saltinge trough one boultinge trough one

paire of malt querns one lead It'm my will is yt my wyef shall have ye rest

of goods wth in ye roomes of my howse parlers & chambers Item I do give to

my sonne William Guye plough & plough stairs wth hovels & yf my sonne William

do departe this lyefe wth out yssue my will is yt then yt shall decende to my

sonne Andrew Guye & for wante of yssue lawfully begotten of his bodye to

decende to my sonne Edwarde Guye The rest of my goods vnbequeathed my debts &

legacies discharged I do give the one halfe to Margarett Guye my wyefe of my

lands medowes com'ons & pastures tethering grasse & closes & the other halfe

to William Guye my sonne whom I make & ordaine Joint executors of this my last

will & Testament Itm I do give vnto my wyefe & to my sonne William ye

tuission & bringing vp of my chilldren It'm I ordaine & make William Guye

Edwarde Marrett Edwarde Guye & Henry Clarke supvisors of this of this (sic) my

last will & Testamentte."
