John Nicholls writes in his History and Antiquities of the County of Leicester 1795 : On Sunday, Sept 30, 1750, a violent shock of an earthquake was felt here (Market Harborough) and in all the Midland Counties ; which lasted near a minute, but did no particular damage. Several smaller shocks have since been felt ; the most considerable of which was on the 18th of November 1795
