OUT TRAILS
BY
J. P. GUY
Out Trails a book written by my Grandfather John Percy Guy in the early 1900s and was printed by the Budget Office, Bath Street, Dunedin, New Zealand.
It records some of his triumphs and failings over a six or seven year period of his life, beginning at the age of 20 in 1894 through the turn of the century; ranging over three continents of the world.
The book was written in the early 1900s and uses the language of the day; some references to foreigners are now considered racist, but when the book was written were acceptable slang.
I never knew my Grandfather; however I do know he brought my mother up not to be racist, but to accept all people for who they are, therefore I presume he did not use the terms in an abusive way.
