Summer
Worship Services
will be at 10 am in July and August Recording of
Services A cartridge
tape is available from the church office with a recording of the previous
week’s service. There is a small
charge for this service |
Worship takes place every Sunday at 11am. There is a crèche for
pre school children, and Sunday School for
school age children. The children meet in the John Honeyman Hall, and go
through to sit at the front of the church with their teachers for the first
part of the service. They then leave
to go back to the hall and are reunited with their parents at the end of the
service. The crèche is held in the cottage meeting room and pre
school children can be left with the carers before the start of the service. Elders are on duty at the front
door of the church to extend a welcome and to give out the order of service
and hymn book. Large print hymn books are available. Visitors are encouraged to
make themselves known to the duty elders and to complete the welcome card found on each pew. There are Bibles
on each pew and you are encouraged to read the lesson with the reader during
the service. The Sacrament of Communion is observed on the second
Sunday in March, June, September and December when there is an 11am service
and an evening service at 6.30pm. Home
Communion can be arranged for those who are housebound. All who love our Lord Jesus Christ are
welcome share Communion with us. It is
possible to attend the service and not take part in the celebration of the
Lords Supper (Eucharist) by sitting in the gallery. There is a loop system for the hard of hearing, hearing aids
should be set to the ‘T’ position. There is wheelchair access and spaces for wheelchairs at the
end of two pews. The duty elders will
be delighted to give every assistance. |

The Church of Scotland is the National Church in
Scotland. Parish Churches are at the
heart of Scotland’s communities, and we serve the people of Bridge of Allan
and beyond. Worship in the Church of Scotland is for
everybody. The Parish Minister is
responsible for leading worship: increasingly members are involved in both
planning and helping to lead worship. Preaching is central to the Church of
Scotland’s way of worshipping God. The
preacher – usually the minister – will share a message drawn out of a passage
from the Bible. The Church of Scotland is a ‘presbyterian’ Church. This means that it is governed through
courts of Elders where Elders have a pastoral and leadership role alongside
the Minister. There are three tiers of
Church courts: ·
The Kirk Session is
responsible for the spiritual life and ongoing work of the congregation ·
The Presbytery is responsible
for the support of congregations within specified geographical areas ·
The General Assembly is the
supreme court of the Church of Scotland. It directs policy, overseas work,
and enacts legislation. |

In addition at individual church level there
is a Congregational Board that looks after the temporal matters of fabric,
money, and the ‘business’ of running the day to day secular affairs of
the church What we believe The God we believe in showed his love for the
world in Jesus Christ, and his concern that all should value and treat each
other with justice and with love, however low in human status or influence. |
