The following is intended as a guide for anyone visiting the railway by bus or train.
PEAK RAIL ACCESS POINTS
Matlock Riverside Station
Access is through the large free car park adjacent to the ‘BR’ station. The bus station is five minutes walk away on the other side of the river.
Darley Dale Station
Alight at the Whitworth Institute on the A6 and the station is five minutes walk along the B5057 towards Winster.
Rowsley South Station
Alight at Northwood Lane, near the old ‘Little Chef’, now 'The Shalimar Restaurant', and a path on the Matlock side of the restaurant leads to the station.

From Worksop catch Stagecoach 77 to Chesterfield and change.
DAY TICKET MONEY SAVERS
If you are changing bus/train several times or simply wish to travel home via a different route and take in the sights, then there are several rover tickets worth investigating before starting your journey which could prove cheaper, especially as some offer one free child with each adult ticket. The latest known prices are given at the time of writing.
Derbyshire Wayfarer Ticket -
Covers trains and buses in Derbyshire and also travel to/from Derbyshire from Sheffield city centre, Macclesfield, Leek, Burton-on-Trent, and Uttoxeter plus a few services outside the county. See publicity leaflet for full details. Trains can be used after 0900hrs Mon-Fri but there is no such restriction at weekends and Bank Holiday Mondays. Current prices are £7-90 Adult (inc one child or dog free), £3-95 OAP/Child, £12-50 Group ticket (Up to 2 adults and 3 children). The Peak Bus Network Family Freedom Ticket -
£8-00 family ticket (Up to 2 adults and 3 children) valid on Sundays and Bank Holiday Mondays only on the Peak Bus Network. For full details contact DCC as above.
Wayfarer -
Covers a wide area in Greater Manchester and the Peak District including as far south as Matlock and Crich. Adult £8-00, OAP/Child £4-00, and Group ticket £15-00(Up to 2 adults and 2 children). Further details from Greater Manchester PTE (0161 228 7811)
Zig Zag Plus (formerly known as Trent Explorer) -
Valid on Trent/Barton buses so if you live in this company’s area this ticket could prove cheaper. Purchase on the bus. £7-50 Adult (inc one child free), £3-75 Derbys/Notts OAP. Further details from Trent (01773 712265).
Trent Zig Zag -
Valid on Trent/Barton buses (after 9am) covering routes as far north as Bakewell. Purchase on the bus. £4-00 Adult (no free child with this ticket), £2-00 OAP/Child. Not valid on the Transpeak Service.
Stagecoach East Midland Day Rover -
Valid on Stagecoach buses so could prove cheaper for anyone travelling from Notts, South Yorkshire & NE Derbyshire. Latest prices to hand are Adult £5-00, Child £2-50. Further details from Stagecoach (01246 211007). Purchase on the bus.
