My Great Grandfather was born on 2^nd May 1888 in Gillingham. He was a postman and met Alice Anne Galloway in a sweet shop in Gillingham, where she worked. They married on 27^th December 1915 at Our Lady of Gillingham Church. He served in the First World War as a Rifleman in 3/8 City of London Regiment. He was a prisoner of war and suffered from mustard gas poisoning. He died on 2^nd February 1959 in Gillingham.

My Great Grandmother was born on 17^th January 1899 and was baptised at St Mary & Joseph Church in Hedon, Yorkshire on 15^th February 1899. She was known as 'Alice Ann' for most of her life and this is given as her name on her marriage certificate to Arthur William Kent on 27^th December 1915 at Our Lady of Gillingham Church. She died on 12^th April 1981.

10. Albert Alexander ROZALLA

My Great Grandfather was born 19^th November 1888 and was baptised at St.Anne’s, Mazagon in Bombay on 17^th December of the same year. He married Eileen on 12th August 1919 at St.Michael's Church, Simla in India. He served in the Indian Army as a Garrison Engineer and died on 18^th August 1947 at Ferozepere.  The funeral procession took place the next day and included a firing party and a military band.

My Great Grandfather was born on 7^th August 1891 at 16 Bruno House, Wykeham Street, in Strood. He married Ellen ‘Nellie’ Jones on 9^th June 1917 at The Parish Church, St Mark, New Ferry in Chester whilst working as a Labourer. He was working as a Labourer at HM Dockyard, Chatham when he died on 7^th February 1940.  The informant on his death certificate was his sister - L.Beer of 23 Sidney Road.

My Great Grandmother was born between 1894 and 1901, possibly in Tipperary, Ireland. Her mother, also Ellen Jones, died in childbirth. At the time of Nellie’s marriage she lived at 78a New Chester Road with her sister Mary and her husband Robert. She married Frank Ernest Dover on 9^th June 1917 at St.Mark’s Parish Church, New Ferry, Chester. They adopted Roy as a young child and had Kenneth, their own child, in 1928 whilst living in Chatham, Kent. It is likely that they were separated at the time of Frank’s death in 1940, as Ellen went on to marry Joe Bourner, a Stoker at the RE Barracks, on 27^th July 1940 at the Medway Register Office. It is believed that they had a daughter, Iris.

My Great Grandfather was born on 10^th August 1900 at 24 Taplow Street, Hoxton-New-Town, Shoreditch. He joined the Royal Navy as a Stoker on 27^th May 1919 and served for 21 years. We think he married Victoria Edith in 1925/26, but was widowed sometime after the birth of their first child. He went on to marry Ivy Florence Rose Grace Callaway on 24^th December 1927 at All Saints Church, Portsmouth. On discharge from the Navy in 1940 he was described as 5’3" with brown hair, brown eyes and a fresh complexion. He died on 7^th June 1963 at All Saints Hospital, Chatham.

My Great Grandmother was born on 8^th March 1909 in Portsmouth. She married Albert Edward Hollingsworth on 24^th December 1927 at All Saints Church, Portsmouth. She died on 22^nd February 1989 at Bromsgrove.
