We
are pleased to announce our second signing, HeLa - the latest
addition to the LAZY roster.
In the northern coast of Jamaica, the ganja hills have been reverberating
with some f*cked-up sound - not Drum n Bass, nor Dancehall, nor Breakbeat,
this music has bombed the No Mans Land, taking no prisoners.
From working as a sound-engineer both at London's Gee Street
studio and Jamaica's renowned GeeJam Studios, HeLa has
forged his own sound, collaborating with established Reggae artists
like Junior Murvin, and with up and coming Dancehall and Roots
singers like Al Pancho, Three In A Hard Way and Donovan
Velvet.
Engineering for people like Gravediggaz, Jungle Brothers,
Sly & Robbie, Prince Paul, Gorillaz and Steelie
& Clevie has helped HeLa develop his own sound and techniques.
When Howie B heard some HeLa demos and said he'd not only
play his tunes but BUY them, LAZY ears pricked up. We promptly
flew to JA with a fat advance and a promise of international superstardom
and female adoration. Luckily, HeLa didn't notice we'd crossed
our fingers behind our backs and he signed on the dotted line.
Expect some phatt vocalastic conglomeration between Dancehall and Drum
and Bass to come oozing from your sound system soon. Watch this space...
HeLa - art-tainted Jamaican music!
