sugardog on VITAMINIC!

Sugardog recently hooked up with the excellent Vitaminic MP3 site and have uploaded a variety of choonz for preview and download. Apart from the exclusive "Me And You", which LAZY are offering for FREE, we can no longer host MP3 files on this site. This is mostly because our server is so sloooow! You can still preview RealAudio versions of the tunes from here and of course, full tunes are available at Vitaminic.

Check out the Sugardog page on Vitaminic - there is both released and unreleased material and they are planning on putting pre-release versions of new tunes on the site.

HeLa gettin' busy

Our second artist, HeLa has recently returned from Jamaica where he's been engineering for the likes of Gorillaz, Mr Vegas, Junior Murvin and Sly and Robbie. Hopefully he's picked up some new techniq and we're eager to unleash his sound in full FX. Once he's whupped his G4 into total submission, we'll have some new tunes for your perusal. Check back soon!

second LAZY release

Following unexpected success with LAZY1 - Sugardog's "Little Devils" 12", LAZY managed to get up this morning and are pleased to announce the release of our second vinyl - Sugardog’s "Me And You/Medicine".

Following on from the last record's 160 bpm pulse rate this double A-sided stimulant will give you palpitations and make you sweat… But, true to form, Sugardog refuse to be classified and break the beat down into a slower, funkier 140 bpm for the A side - starting with "Me And You" featuring John Lee Hooker - "an old mate" Sugardog claim, and finishing with Here Boy’s electronic 2-Step mix of Sugardog’s way underground classic - "Untrue". The flip AA side then whips you back up to speed, first subduing you through hypnosis with "Medicine" and then brutalising you with broken breakbeats on the original D n B mix of "Untrue".

We recently hooked up with distributors Nu Urban Music who will be handling most of the… er… distribution. We also distribute ourselves to a few select London shops. If you're having trouble finding the 12", you can contact either Nu Urban Music, Bi-Wire or LAZY directly. LAZY are promoting this record, in conjunction with Aidan at Waxworks, through mailouts to relevant DJs, press and radio.

tracks

A1 - Me And You - sampling John Lee Hooker, this reeks of ol' skool breakbeat house - but there’s not a 4/4 kick in sight! Shit Kickers edit by Carim Clasmann. Previously unobtainable due to UK foot and mouth restrictions, this livestock has now been certified "safe"; and is ready to spread it's filth all over dancefloors everywhere! Watch your step! (Note: This record was made before John Lee's recent death. We would like to offer our deepest respect to the man and his music and thank him for the many years of listening pleasure and inspiration he gave us.)

A2 - Untrue (Here Boy mix) - Here Boy mix in a "f*ck skool" stylee. Is this really post-millennial breakbeat juxtaposited between 2-Step and Electro? Who cares! Hyperactive beats and remedial synths usually mean only one thing – it demands attention! Despite counselling, this will beat up your teacher when the bassline hits you!

AA1 - Medicine - "You are the pill for my fever and chill!" By strict definition, this should be downtempo Drum n Bass, but there's nothing like this! This is the classic Sugardog 'good dog/bad dog' scenario taking you on a journey from beauty to disease, through a parallel biological dimension. A strange but sensual illness. Unpredictable. Terminal. No cure.

AA2 - Untrue - the original Sugardog mix. This just ejaculates from the speaker and washes you with bass. Gila sings "Is this untrue?" and you want to shake her, yelling "True! True!" If it really exists, this is 'Stadium Jungle' - destined for massive sound systems in massive spaces. Massive.
