In the Beginning
Methley Team Photo Methley Warriors ARLFC was formed in March 2000 to provide local children with opportunity to develope individual skills and play rugby league on a weekly basis. Since its formation the club has grown from 1 team to now having 4 teams, and we are still growing. Supported by fully qualified coaches and first-aiders, the club strives to encourage and reward each and every child for continuous commitment and development.

The club started life training at Methley Cricket fields, then moved to the Junior School for a short period, before moving to the present site on Pinfold Lane. BUPA Methley Park Hospital were the first major sponsors of the club, providing the team with its first kit which was blue and white. Thew club have subsequently enjoyed great support in terms of sponsorship from local businesses such as The Car People, Jenkar Shipping, Johnson Homes, JW Brownley Kitchens & Bedrooms, FSH Maintenance to name but a few.

Enter the Cubs
In 2003 we saw the introduction of the cubs. The aim of the ‘Cubs’ is to provide our youngest and newest players, usually aged between 5 & 7, with the opportunity to learn the basic skills of Rugby League in a safe and enjoyable environment. They are the next generation of players for the older age groups and will make Methley Warriors an even more formidable club for years to come.

A Community Club
Since its foundation the club has been an integral part of the Methley community, receiving huge support from friends, family and businesses within the village. Indeed a much valued partner is Methley Working Mens Club who accomodate our after match activites and our event nights which take place throughout the year.

Coaches from Methley Warriors over the years have also participated in the Methley Primary School's 'Golden Time', introducing the children to the great game of Rugby League.

A Partnership Club
Methley Warriors are proud to be a 'Partnership Club' of Castleford Tigers. This has provided the players a great opportunity to experience and enjoy the unique atmosphere of the 'Jungle'.

Every year the Tigers invite Methley Warriors' players to train at their pitches under the supervision of the Castleford coaches, which is followed by a tour of the ground. And the highlight of the day (for the famalies as well as the players) is the team playing a curtain raiser prior to the main Castleford match. (And unlike the Tigers, the Warriors are still unbeaten at the Jungle!).

A Winning Club
In 2006 the Methley Warriors brought home its first ever silverware, when the Under8s won the prestegious Lock Lane Tournament. A fantastic achievement by any standards.

The club is also making its mark within the Service Area with 2 players from the Under 13's and 4 players from the under 12s selected for their respective Service Area Teams.

In its relatively short existance Methley Warriors has made massive strides in establishing itself as one of the top Junior Rugby League clubs in the region. Its success in terms developement and progress off the field is matched (and surpassed) on the field by the 4 excellent teams who play in the various age groups. Indeed, such is its growing reputation, that many players from outside the village are travelling many miles to train and play for the Warriors.

Although only a short one, the Club has enjoyed a great history thanks to the efforts of so many. The foundations have now been built that will ensure a fantatsic future.
