BRITISH GYMNASTICS JUDGING QUALIFICATION
|
The titles, the structure and level of content of the judging awards have been standardised, where possible, across each aspect of the sport. The following is a broad outline of the judging award scheme.
The Structure of the Judging Awards:
There are four levels of judging in each of the disciplines: Men’s Artistic, Women’s Artistic, Rhythmic Gymnastics, Sports Acrobatics (Pairs and Groups and Tumbling), Sports Aerobics, Team Gym.
Level of Award
- Club Judge - To Judge at Club competitions
- Regional Judge - To Judge at Regional and County competitions
- National Judge - To Judge at National competitions
- Brevet Judge - To Judge at International competitions
Trampolining has six Levels:
- Club Judge
- County Judge
- Regional Judge
- Zonal Judge
- National Judge
- Brevet Judge
N.B Double Mini Trampoline is only available at National Judge Level and the pre-requisite is a Regional Judge in Trampolining
How to become a Judge
Each of the awards is obtained by the attendance on a recognised BG course and through successful completion of an examination. Judges should commence at Club Judge level and progress systematically through the awards. Persons with a suitably experienced background may enter at a higher level subject to Technical Committee approval.
Potential judges should apply to the Regional Judging Co-ordinator in your region for information on courses or contact British Gymnastics, Coach/Judge Education Department on 0845 129 7 129 ext 392.
The course duration and examination procedure will be dependent upon the level of qualification and discipline being taken.
Floor and Vault Judging has been introduced as a foundation judging award, which will also meet the needs of schools competitions and has two levels - Level 1 and Level 2.
