A Great Trek for Children
It's a good trek to introduce children to week-long walking holidays as there's lots of things to do 'en route' . They can take a tour around a reconstructed copper mine or inside a power station ride a little steam train or watch wool being dyed. Thats on top of the scrambling over rocks, paddling on lake shores and playing in streams so beloved by our own children (on whom most of this trek has been tested!)
Comfortable Nights in Walker-friendly places
Every night we have found you a friendly B & B, welcoming hotel, guest house or pub where a hot bath or shower, a good meal and an inviting bed awaits. We book single and 'en suite' rooms wherever they are available but because of the individual nature of village hotels then cannot ALWAYS be guaranteed.
Lakes and Legends Galore!
On Sunday morning we begin our trek by leaving Llanberis with it's lovely lake and ancient Welsh castle and begin our traverse around Snowdon. We'll be following slate quarrymen's paths and forest tracks until we reach our next night's stop at the alpine-like Beddgelert. If you don't know the legend of Prince Llewelyn and his dog (after whose grave the village is named) then someone in the village is bound to tell it to you!

Next day we'll follow the sparkling river through the spectacular Aberglaslyn Pass and following old cattle drovers roads to spend the night in the attractive village of Maentrwrog. On Tuesday morning we be walk through magnificent oak woodlands, marvelling at beautiful waterfalls and catch the train for a few stops (to tunnel under the high mountains) through to the beautiful Lledr valley to arrive in Dolwyddelan with its famous Welsh castle. There'll also be an option of travelling on the most famous of all the little steam railways of Wales - the Ffestiniog railway.

Superb Views and a Chance to Shop
We continue next day through the Gwydr forest besides another salmon rivers to arrive in Betws y Coed, the village built where three rivers meet and the place to shop for your woollen or pottery gifts. Thursday brings us into the Llugwy Gorge past the Swallow Falls to stay at Capel Curig - the Mecca for climbing and walking enthusiasts with superb views of the Snowdon Massif and then on Friday we carry on following fine paths past either one of several beautiful lakes to finish in pretty Trefriw. Built around it's woollen mill which harnesses the power of the mountain streams.
