|
| 2nd September 2000 The finish of the August bank holiday see's the
end of our summer season and a chance to catch up in the
office and update the web site. With the coming of autumn
our thoughts turn to the winter ahead so we have
published our new
winter dates. |

| 6th May 2000 The trekking season is upon us and we have just We still have spaces on our Mountains High 17th-24th June but the remaining summer treks are starting to fill fast so book your place now! |
| 19th April 2000 A busy Easter looming and we have the, now usual, late fall of snow covering the tops. Our Welsh 3000's weekend just gone was completed for the first time last weekend in winter conditions. Fortunatly we had a very fit group in so the deep snow didn't slow them down. Time in front of a computer screen has been limited this last month so there haven't been as many web site additions recently. I hope to add some new pictures soon but here is one of Marchlyn Bach, the lake behind our house, to be going on with. |
25th February 2000 We are now almost through our winter programme only 2 more Winter Weekends left. The winter has been another mild one but we have managed to find enough snow to practice techniques on all the weekends. Even enough to complete grade 1 gullies on three of the weekends. We have just invested in a digital camera so we hope to be able to add more current photos to the site. This one of a Brocken Spectre, from above the Carnedd y Filiast slabs, was taken last weekend. I have just added Spot the Peak which will hopefully keep some of you amused. I am also working on a virtual tour of Tal y Waen which should be ready soon. |
| 12th January 2000 Hope you had a good Christmas and the new
century has started well for you. |
| 21st October 1999 Well our final weekend of the autumn season is upon us! What a hectic year its been we've had the cottage extended so we finally have a bedroom of our own away from the kids! I've been rushing to finish off the kitchen and bathroom as well as updating the web site before I leave on my trip to Nepal. The winter weekend dates and brochure are now available. Mandy and I are currently working on some new treks for 2000 - one will be a tough mountain trek and will include all the Welsh 3,000ft peaks and the other will be a holiday mixing 3-4 hours gentle walking a day with 3-4 hours historic site visiting. This will make use of Mandy's new found knowledge as she's doing a course leading to a Blue Badge Tourist Guide qualification this winter. Full details will be finalised when I come back from Nepal in early December. STOP PRESS Our previously full Millenium break has had a cancellation and we've a vacancy for another man . So if your interested in seeing in the New Year on the summit of Snowdon then contact us. |
| 22nd July 1999 Summer arrives and time for updating web sites
is at a minimum! Our family holiday canoeing down the
Dordogne went well despite the wet weather and Mandy's
aversion to fast flowing water. I returned to imediately
set off again to Scotland for the Big One's so a fair few
miles were covered that week. Well done to Sylvie, Derek,
Kate, Jeff, Mike and Ron for completing Ben Nevis,
Scafell Pike and Snowdon in the Weekend. |

| 30th May 1999 We've just come to the end of a very busy spell with our first two treks of the season and a number of long weekend breaks.Things are a bit quieter now ,David has gone off to Bolivia for June, and we are taking the kids canoeing in the south of France. So Emma and Sid are left holding the fort. All the best to the new friends made during the last month and the old acquaintances renewed. |
| 4th May 1999 Well what a superb bank holiday! Blue skies and hot rock were enjoyed by the participants in our two climbing courses. Ascent were made of Tryfan via North Buttress and Central route, Lighthouse arete at Gogarth, Y Gelenen and Pinky in the Moelwyns, Western slabs and Jubilee climb on Dinas Mot, and first leads for Nick and Granville on Clogwyn Y Tarw. David is now back from Antartica, so along with Emma we now have a full compliment of staff ready for the summer, lets hope the sun keeps shining. |
| 17th April 1999 We are now well into our spring season of courses and the weather has done its usual U-turn, from summer temperatures back to snow within the space of a few days. Next weekend is our first Scrambling course (We have 2 spaces remaining ) of the year so hopefully it will warm up by then. |
| 2nd March 1999 Next weekend is our last welsh winter weekend before we move across the borders for our annual jaunt to Scotland. This weekend just gone proved to be quite eventful with the rescue of two crag fast climbers, who were without rope or crampons, out of the snow gully we had just ascended. Monday was a day of torrential rain and gales, but we managed a scramble on the east face of Tryfan, spurred on by Doc's terrible jokes. |
| 8th February 1999 The winter has been intermittent so far but at last the winter snows have arrived, and it looks like staying cold for at least the next week. The last of the old snow had just about disappeared by the start of this weekend so Saturday was spent on a snow hunt in the mist. We managed to practice self arrest on a very short slope, followed by an ascent of easy gully in Cwm Cneifion, with the minimum of snow in it .Sunday dawned clear and cold with 2" of fresh snow so an ascent of Crib Lem was decided upon, and an excellent day was had by all, the cloud clearing during the climb to give spectacular views of the newly plastered mountains. Today more snow and the group have headed off into Cwm Glas. 28th January 1999 |
| 11th January 1999 Well winter seems to have finally arrived. We've just had three day's of blue skies and crisp fresh snow. A weekend in the Lakes, our kids first visit, and a day in Cwm Glas and over Crib y Ddysgl today. Let's hope it continues, unlike the last couple of year's! Our New Year break had its moments, midnight N Y Eve saw us on the summit of Snowdon Cracking open the champagne. New Years day saw us bundling our broken tents away in storm force winds at Cloggy ,a night, I expect, which will live long in the memory! ! Ian |
