SALMON
Depending on the water the Salmon arrive mid September.
With salmon the technique is entirely different to trout
They run when the water rises and will stop for nothing
As the water falls they are trapped in the deep pools
and move into the runs to get oxygen.
They have little interest in food as they feed at sea.
To hook one you have to annoy it, you can pass a fly
in front of its nose fifteen times and on the sixteenth
might take it. Usually you have given up
and some small boy hooks it on his first cast.
However if you ever do succeed in hooking a SALMON
you will have a fight on your hands
that you will remember all your life.
If you do not fish with a gillie it is best to fish
with a friend as landing a salmon is difficult on your own.
