Hello my name is porky, here is my story.... I started Rockin at the
age of 14, in my first band at the age of 15, Flaming Blue Suede in
78 then Blue Suede Bopers. In 1979, joined a band with kid brother Johny
(who was then 15) and played the drums, Simon on guitar, Elsie (ex Red
Hot 'N' Blue) Saxophone and Tony on the Double bass we were then called
"The Cruzin Comets" We played together for two years then the band split
in 1981. Had a new band called "The Unexplained" more psychobilly supporting
bands like "THE METEORS" "Guana Batz" and "King Kurt". We were only
a trio then with me playing lead guitar and singing ******* hard work!
Lasted about a year then got together with new guys to form "THE SURF
RATS" From what I have heard there was another band with the same name
around at that time - never saw them, probably never saw us! Anyway,
the band was myself on lead guitar and singing, Skinny Jim - lead singer
(also now Hemsby DJ) my cousin Yogi on slap bass, Alan Havercroft on
saxophone (Alan is now dead, he committed suicide) and Dave Lewis on
drums ******* MENTAL!!! This band lasted a good couple of years through
the 80's. At this time my brother was in a really sad, soppy band called
the "Classics" |

Hello my name is Chris Finn I have been into Rock & Roll From the age
of about 10 to 11 when I first saw Billy Fury on my television. I am
mainly into the teddy boy scene I have Always wanted to play a guitar
and when I was 22 I bought myself one and taught myself to play it.
I was inspired by the sound of Crazy Cavan (to be honest, I still am
today) The first band I was in was "THE ZODIACS" followed by "THE CLASSICS" |

I first got in to the rockin music when I was about fourteen with my mate Simon Goodyear, he was learning to play the guitar at the time. I was a big Gene Vincent fan along with Johny Burnett Trio and still am today. Rock a Billy has all ways been my love and with modern bands like Jets, Blue Cats and the Stray Cats at the top of my list of favourites. I did not start to play the bass until I was 34 years old with help from Simon Goodyear and Wayne Beauchamp I was soon playing along to my favourite tracks.I got a phone call from a mate Nick Mallet asking me would I like to take his place in the band . I went for my first practice and it went o.k the good thing was I knew the lads from my teenage days . The band is going relay well with one C.D under our belts and more to come.I have work hard to get a good sound from my bass the set up I am using at the moment is a Peavey bass max pre amp a Peavey 600watts power amp and 2x15 black widow speakers which gives me a good bottom end sound.I would just like to thank my wife Sarah and my children Lee, Matthew & Karina for putting up with all the hassle of being in a band. Not for getting my best mate Dave Rounce for pushing me into buying my double bass. |

I have been playing the drums since I was 15, I first heard Rock 'N' Roll through my brother Porky and the music gave me a buzz straight away. I used to put Bill Hayley records on and practice on the drums every day. Gene Vincent & Johnny Burnette were my first biggest influences. A few months later we formed a band playing local village halls etc. We started to go out to many Rock 'N' Roll all dayers were we first got insight to the top bands on the circuit i.e.... Jets - Crazy Cavern etc This gave me a great incentive. as the years went by I played in many bands. probably my biggest gig event was playing with Clive Osborne from The Blue Cat Trio in a swing band in Wales in front of 7 thousand people. Recently I have been playing with the Hot Rockin' band: Porky, Kevin and Chris. After 20 years playing in Rock 'N' Roll bands, I believe Hot Rockin' has been the best band I have ever played with. We have a great time when were toghter, hopefully it shows in the way we perform. I hope our success continues we have made our first made our first CD (Rev it up) and I hope there are many more to come I am married to a great wife, Yvette and 2 lovely children: Craig, Dominic and Christopher Many thanks to all who have supported the bands over the years. |
