Pembrey Airport

Wales' links with the rest of the world received a major boost in August
1997 with the opening
of Pembrey Airport in Llanelli.
The airport
is located on a wide coastal plain and is
the perfect gateway to both South and West Wales.
Road links in the area have been extensively upgraded in recent years providing easy access to the airport
from all parts of Britain and beyond. The M4 corridor, the industrial centres of South Wales, the holiday resorts
of West Wales and the ferry terminals at Fishguard and Pembroke are all just a short car journey
away. The airport is also just a stone's throw away from the London to Fishguard railway.
Amenities and attractions within a ten mile radius of the airport include:Pembrey Country Park - 500 acres of forest and open parkland.
Cefn Sidan Beach - seven miles of golden sands with European 'Blue Flag' status.
Kidwelly Castle - a well preserved 11th century fortress
Burry Port Harbour - landing site of Amelia Erhart, first lady to fly accross the Atlantic.
Lougher Estuary - one of the most important feeding grounds for waterfowl in Europe.
Gower Peninsula - Britains first designated area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Ashburnham Golf Club - a links-style championship course.

Many types of aircraft fly at Pembrey including
Microlights, GA aircraft and Helicopters. In 1998 Pembrey will offer training to full licence
on all these types.
