netmixing™

Netmixing? Yes, you know..... having your music mixed on the other side of the town/country/world by someone you've never met, who just happens to have the sound and approach that's right for your music. The internet means you can do this quickly, and without posting cds and waiting weeks to hear anything..

So, fancy an Ian Catt mix of your music? Here's how it works...

1. Upload your recording to my musicxray dropbox. If you're not a member you'll have to sign up to do this, but sign-up is free. Submitting the track to me will cost 10$, but if we eventually agree that I mix your work I'm very happy to deduct this from my fee. If you have any problems with this process please email me. Include in your submission as much detail as you can about what you want to achieve. References to other tracks are really helpful. e.g "the strings should sound like "Hobart Paving" by Saint Etienne" is much more useful than "make the strings sound high and sad, and a bit wobbly".

2. I'll listen. If I feel I can help you get what you want from your material, and maybe bring something extra to it, then I'll be in touch to discuss things and agree a fee*.

3. You upload the parts in the form of mutitrack WAV audio files, and a MIDI file if the song is sequencer based.

4. I will mix your track, and upload it for you to listen to.

5. You send notes on any changes you would like. I'll amend the mix and upload a new version.

6. Steps 4 & 5 are repeated (within reason!) until you're happy.

* This may well be less than you'd expect. Why? I like to work on music I like, and often that's music made by people who have more talent and ideas than money. One reason for offering this service is to get involved early with new talent. Some of my early recordings were first demos recorded on a shoestring for artists who went on to be successful and established, and with whom I still work, and charge two shoestrings ...
