B-17 FW 190A

BLUE MAXTM WW2

Defence of the Reich

This is the last of the World War 2 modules for BLUE MAX. It covers the daylight bombing campaign against Germany 1943-45.

This is a bit different from the other modules presented so far. Firstly, its new; only a couple of months old and I still don't have all the planes in it I would like or a campaign game. Secondly, there are quite a few rules changes required for the heavy bombers. But don't worry the new rules are simple and fast.

Note:
Unless specifically stated you cannot use aircraft maneuver sheets from one module with another because the aircraft speeds have been calculated in different ways. This is just like the "early war" - "late war" split in the Miniatures Rules set.

Here's a list of the files in this set (with some examples):-

  1. WW2 Version Special Rules - some rules changes to make the game suitable for WW2 play.
  2. Defence of the Reich Aircraft Characteristics Chart.
  3. "The Battle of Berlin" - a competition game scenario.
  4. Aircraft Maneuver Sheets
    - P-51, P-47, P-38, Spitfire, Me 109G (2 versions), Me 110G, FW 190A, FW 190D.
  5. Heavy Bomber Special Rules.
    - some rules changes and additional rules for heavy bomber formation flying, defensive fire and damage.
  6. Bomber Formation Record Sheets - one for B-17s and one for B-24s.

(items 1, 2, 3 & 5 are in both MS Word & ASCII text versions; 4 & 6 are GIFs)

Me 262A

22/04/02: Major Update - Here come the Jets!

The Defence of the Reich module, as originally presented, was "unfinished" because many features which I wanted in it were missing and little playtesting had been done.

Since that time I have added a lot of new material and the game has been extensively playtested (including at several local game conventions).

Note:
The update contains only those files which have changed or been added so you will need the original module files (above) if you don't already have them.

So what's new?

  1. More planes including the Me262A Jet Fighter, special "bomber-destroyer" variants of the Me109 and FW190, the Me410, British Typhoon and Tempest.
  2. Special weapons including the BK5 cannon, Wgr21 and R4M rockets.
  3. A mini-campaign (the first Schweinfurt raid) and some scenarios.
  4. Templates and historical data for players to generate their own scenarios.
  5. Some important rule changes.
  6. Corrections/adjustments to some aircraft stats and Maneuver Sheets.
