Myself and my friends are interested in modern naval combat and played many games of Harpoon when it first appeared.
We struggled for several years to speed up the game and reduce the burden on the referee, devising all kinds of playing aids and new rules.
We always play double-blind, limited intelligence games using maps - transfering to the table only when units are sighted.
