WHAT A BRILLIANT DAY! Apart form the force nine gale, that only seemed to be on Portland, the sunshine shone and brought the best out of the riders. Congratulations to Paddy who had his first taste of winning, with a fantastic sprint to the line with Keith Martin. Team mate, Nathan Willmington, never far from Paddy's side, just missed the break when a group of 10 including Paddy broke away. One by one they dropped off as the pace picked up. Paddy and Keith played cat and mouse on the final couple of laps and on the final climb to the finish, Paddy tried to pull away, but Keith stuck with him. All was not lost, as Paddy attacked again and hurtled across the line with the biggest grin and a one armed salute and a very loud 'YES!!'. Nathan couldn't pull back the gap on all the split front group, but had a great sprint to the line with A. Laurence. With nothing left in the tank, he settled for a superb 6th place and gained valuable points to take him within touching distance of the CAT 2 licence, which Paddy has so swiftly earned. He can now join Don and mix it with the big boys. | |||||||||||||||||||
