This website has been set up as an information resource for the Marhamchurch Parish Plan project.
The 'parish' concerned is the historic administrative parish (part of Marhamchurch Ward and North Cornwall District) rather than the parish of St Marwenne's Church (see parish map).

The Parish Plan project was established by a decision of Marhamchurch Parish Council in November 2005 after an advertised public meeting in October had shown strong support for a Parish Plan.

A Parish Plan Group was established and grant aid was successfully applied for from DEFRA/CRCC and North Cornwall District Council.

The first public announcement about the project was a brief presentation at the Marhamchurch Parish Annual Meeting on 25 April 2006.   Then, at the Marhamchurch Revel on Monday 14 August 2006, there was a large stand providing Parish Plan information plus some parish based competitions .

However, the major information event was
      the Marhamchurch PARISH PLAN LAUNCH
at the Bray Institute   on TUESDAY 12 SEPTEMBER 2006.
There were displays for viewing anytime between 2pm and 9.30pm, plus special information sessions, with Free Refreshments, starting at 2pm and 7pm.

Over 200 people attended throughout the course of the afternoon and evening.

The Working Group developed a questionnaire which was hand delivered to, and hand collected from, all parish residents in late September / early October 2006.
There was also a questionnaire project and a painting project in Marhamchurch Primary School, plus a Youth questionnaire and an Educational questionnaire.

The collected questionnaires were sent out of the parish for data entry.   That data has now been analysed (a major task!).

The results were presented back to the people of Marhamchurch at a 'Parish Plan FEEDBACK DAY' in the Bray Institute on Wednesday 20 June 2007.

Over 200 people attended during the course of that day. On display were boards showing the results of every question in the main questionnaire, the Primary and Youth questinnaires, and the Educational questionniare, plus folders giving lists of all the individual answers to each question.

The Feedback Day also had large displays of twelve of the 'issues' arising from the responses, each giving the opportunity for those attending to vote on their priority for treatment of these issues. There was huge response to this. In addition, there were large boards where residents could indicate their interest in specific parish activities and volunteering opportunities.

At all the public events the Parish Plan Group asked for extra residents to help.   All who volunteered were co-opted.

However, it was decided early on that the Group should, at an appropriate time, be replaced by an elected Management Committee.   On Thursday 29 March 2007 there was an Annual General Meeting at the Bray Institute which all residents were welcome to attend. A new Parish Plan Management Committee was elected - and it was that Committee which, together with numerous other volunteers, organised and ran the Feedback Day

There is more information about the Plan creation process on the 'Plan Information' page.   More information will also continue to appear on posters, flyers, noticeboards (and on this website) over the next few months.

Anyone interested in hearing more about the Marhamchurch Parish Plan project, or becoming involved in organising the project, is urged to contact the Parish Plan Group Secretary (see Contact Us page for details).
