Marhamchurch volunteer projects

Community Shop

A major project is underway to try to set up a Community Shop in the village.   The Shop Committee have recently been successful in obtaining funding to cover architect's fees and legal fees to progress the project.

They are planning a public meeting to give residents the opportunity to see the drawings and comment on the scheme. For the scheme to be successful, it will rely heavily on volunteers from the community.

Watch the notice boards and newsletters for the announcement of the public meeting.

Marhamchurch Drop-In Club

Help running the Drop-In Club is always welcome.

For futher information, please contact Jon (361443) or Sue (361642).

Speedwatch

The Marhamchurch volunteer Community Speedwatch was the first Speedwatch to be set up within the Devan & Cornwall Constabulary area and was one of the first developments resulting from the Parish Plan.   It, together with some other local Speedwatches co-ordinated via Bude police station, acted as a pilot to test the effectiveness and develop procedures.

The success of this pilot in helping to curb speeding resulted in Speedwatch being introduced in many other areas across Devon and Cornwall.

If you would like to be involved, or are merely interested in finding out more, please make contact using the e-mail or telephone number given on the 'Contact us' page.

Marhamchurch Newsletter

The Marhamchurch Newsletter was started by a small group of volunteers as a result of the very strong support shown for a newsletter in the Parish Plan responses.
It has now been going for 12 issues!
If anyone is interested in helping in any way, be it providing/collecting news, editing or printing the newsletter or helping to deliver it, please make contact using the e-mail or telephone number given on the 'Contact us' page.

Other volunteering opportunities

Watch this page, and the newsletters, for other volunteering opportunities in the parish. There will almost certainly be a 'beach clean' on one of the parish beaches and possibly also a 'japanese balsam pull', a playpark maintenance day and a litter pick.
