Minimum training period required between each Degree

I - II Dan 1.5 years

II - III Dan 2 years

III - IV Dan 3 years

IV - V Dan 4 years

Minimum age requirements for Degree

I Dan 10 years

Reduction to the minimum waiting time

The certified attendance of an International Course can result in a reduction of the waiting period between Dan grades and are listed below.

All Dan grades - 1st ever and once only 6 month reduction.
No other reductions can be used in conjunction with this.

From the date of the last promotion result I & II degree 1(one) month reduction per course and only one reduction period can be used per year no matter how many courses are attended.

From the date of the last promotion result, III & IV degree 2(two) month's reduction per course and only one reduction period can be used per year no matter how many courses are attended.

From the date of the last promotion result, V degree and above 3(three) month's reduction per course and only one reduction period can be used per year no matter how many courses are attended.

Appendage to the reduction in minimum waiting time outlined by the founder on page 727 in the condensed encyclopaedia and page 94 Vol. 1 of the 15 volume encyclopaedia. 'Special circumstances' will allow the minimum promotion waiting time to be reduced. This should, ideally be applicable for promotion to master status and higher.

Special Circumstances

· Special Circumstance for one (1) time only in an individuals Taekwon-Do career, can reduce the waiting time by up to half of the total recommended minimum waiting time; no other reduction time can be used in conjunction with this.
· Special Circumstance promotions can only be recommended by a Grandmaster or Continental president and a letter of recommendation outlining the special circumstance must be attached to the application.
