How to change a Bond Bug Clutch
Put Bug on ramps and chock front wheel.... If possible steam clean or jet
wash the crud from the car the day before.
Remove
Carb, Rocker box cover, Gearbox lever and top of distributor.
Disconnect-
Exhaust, Front Prop shaft bolts, Top hose and lower end of speedometer.
Support
engine on a hydraulic jack then remove the
4 mounting bolts from the rear engine mount.
Check
every thing is free and gently lower engine gearbox about 10 inches (Keeping
front 2 mounts in place)
With the
engine supported with lumps of wood you can then remove jack and undo bolts
around bell housing including the ones for the starter motor.
You can
then pull the gearbox from the engine, Remove the clutch bolts and refit the
clutch- Not forgetting to replace the thrust bearing.
As they say in all good Workshop Manuals- Refitting is the reverse of dismantling.
