We've heard from Will Hairsine (1988-92) who's a lieutenant in the Royal Navy. He's now the Executive Officer of a mine counter-measure squadron which will be serving in HMS Grimsby, operating from Bahrain, and carrying out mine-hunting operations in the Arabian Gulf. He won't be able to come to this year's reunion but sends his good wishes, particularly to Hannah Rogers as she starts her year as President. He can be contacted on his mobile on 07795 044 554

We hadn't heard from Ron Whitby (1943-50) for many years so it was a delightful surprise to receive an email from him recently. Ron says that his only claim to fame as a chorister was that he was the soloist at the RAF Memorial Book broadcast in November 1949. Although he received a signed photograph of Air Marshall Sir Aubrey Ellwood Ron says that he would have preferred a fiver. Ron trained as an electrical power engineer and held a number of posts before retiring early in 1992. He lives at East Leake, near Loughborough and now spends most of his time trying to play golf and helping his wife in the garden. His six grandchildren also take up quite a bit of his time. An 11-year old sorts out his computer.

Rachel Line (1996-2002) , her sister Naomi (1996-2002) and Bryony Jones (1995-2000) have formed a trio called Tre Luci, and their first CD was launched at the cathedral in November 2007. The album takes some hymns, old and modern, with close pure harmonies creating a more modern sound which can be enjoyed by everyone whether or not they have a belief in Christianity.
It wasn't until the girls left the choir that they began singing together regularly as a trio. Tre Luci was formed in 2007. Rachel and Naomi don't just see Bryony as a friend but more as a sister. They were three of the first girl choristers at Lincoln Cathedral., You can hear three tracks from the CD if you visit the website of Tre Luci at www.myspace.com.treluciofficial. The CD can be ordered from www.bridgemusicstore.com price £10 plus £3.50 for postage.

Unfortunately he suffered from depression with its variable and intractable effects which led him to end his life in April 2004 at the age of 39 years. He was treasurer of the Old Choristers' Association at the time of his death. His ashes were interred in the cloisters of Lincoln cathedral in September 2004.
A selection of Robbie's poems and writings, Hiraeth, was published in 2007 and can be obtained at the cathedral bookshop or from Alan Wheeler, 9 Eleanor Close, Lincoln LN5 8PG price £4.99 including postage.

News of the Johnson brothers. Henry Johnson (1992-1997) was married last year in Canterbury Cathedral. HIs wife is called Harmony. They met while singing in the Girton College Chapel Choir. Henry, who is training to be an accountant in Canterbury, sings as a Deputy Bass Lay Clerk in the Cathedral Choir, under the direction of Dr David Flood. He has also branched out into singing opera, as a member of the Canterbury Cathedral Garden Opera, also directed by David Flood. Henry took the role of Figaro last year, and this year sang the part of Don Alfonso in Cosi Fan Tutte. Both operas were performed in the Deanery Garden.
Aidan Johnson (1995 - 2000) is in the final year of a Master's degree in engineering at Edinburgh. He has been sponsored during his studies by the firm BAM Nuttall, and has worked on the Cambridge Guided Busway for the last three summer vacations. In Edinburgh he sings as a bass in the Musical Medics Choir, and has also started a Barbershop quartet, which performs at the Medics' concerts.
Daniel Johnson (1999-2004) has just finished his gap year . He spent six months singing as a bass choral scholar at Portsmouth Cathedral, whose choir is directed by Dr David Price. He also worked as a teaching assistant at the Portsmouth Grammar School, and carried out his first professional solo engagement as the soloist in Mendelssohn's Elijah, for a local choral society. Then he travelled to Argentina, where he worked at St George's College as a teaching assistant, before travelling around South America with friends for a month. He has just begun his studies at Edinburgh University, where he will study Chemistry. He hopes to carry on his singing in a university choir.
