The Society:
Sheffield Bach Society - also
known as Sheffield Bach Choir, a very friendly, mixed voice, Choir, performs
choral works not only by Bach, but also by a wide range of composers from
before Bachs time up to the present day, with professional soloists and
orchestra. In addition to the published series of major concerts per season,
other concerts with choir and organ are given by invitation; enquiries to the
Secretary are most
welcome. If you have an enquiry about anything to do
with the Society that you cannot find within these pages, please click
here to send an email to
us.
Membership:
The Choir rehearses in the Hall
of Cemetery Road Baptist Church, 11 Napier Street (opposite Waitrose car park)
on Monday evenings from 7.30 to 9.30 p.m. If you are interested in joining,
please contact the Choir
Secretary. The current subscription is £100 per year, with £20
for students. This need not be paid all at once; it can be by term or by
monthly standing order. We welcome new members in all voices and from anywhere
in the world! A reasonably good level of sight-reading ability is required to
cope with the number of concerts we give.
Other ways in which you can
be involved in the Society are by becoming a Friend or Patron.
Friends of Sheffield Bach
Society are entitled to free admission to all main Society concerts and have
the opportunity to attend social or other events. Annual subscriptions start at
£60. Being a Friend provides much appreciated support for the
Society; your money and your presence at concerts are highly valued.
Life Friends are,
generally, retired members of the Choir who have given long years of valuable
service. We give them free tickets for life as a way of saying a small "Thank
you" for all they have done for us in the past.
Patrons pay £20 per
year as a way of supporting the Society, and we are very grateful for this
help.
Look at our Friends and
Patrons page to see the list of current members.
Sponsorship:
We are grateful for sponsorship,
which helps us to finance our concerts. A variety of packages is available,
suitable for businesses or private individuals. If you are, or might be,
interested in sponsoring a concert, please contact the
Treasurer.
