Comments: I was a guest of the Lothian PRA on 2 occasions and was treated royally. John Owen,Harry, and a couple of mebers who have unfortunately passed away,Bill Elliot an Billy Dunlop were particularly generous.Chris Dunlop visited me in mid July and it was great to see her again. She presented me with a gift of the "Millenium" presentation box. It is very impressive and I will always treasure it.I am enjoying my retirement from the fire department (32Years) and spend 6 months in Arizona each winter. If any of the Paras are going to be in the Toronto area please give me a call.905-640-3331 or 905-272-4730 Newsletter and website are great.Say hello to the boys and I hope to get over againTake care. Comments: Just landed on the Drop Zone, and as usual my lower back is giving me hell (T-12, L-1, L-2). I'm sure that you all understand and feel the same after having served as airborne soldiers. Past assignments: 1-509th ABCT...2-325th Abn Inf...1st Ranger Battalion. Am currently working on a web site with a buddy who served in the 509th (Italy) with me in th eearly eighties. It has no imagery at this time, but that should change by summers end. Expect to see many airborne pictures, as well as super 8 video. Feel free to cross the Atlantic and jump onto my site for a reconnaissance in a months time to see some sharp images! Ciao, Cameron

I am currently serving in the RAF, and I am trying to find out as much information as possible on the Army career of my late grandfather - Robert "Bob" Atkinson. He served with, I beleive, 7th KOSB and I know he served in Op Market Garden. If my mother is correct, he was a S/Sgt, and I would love to hear from anyone who knew him, or who knows where I may fin assistance. This is for a project I am working on for my grandmother. Comments: Hello I wasn't in the amry and don't plan on it but my grandfather was. He was in the 517th Parachute Regimental Combat Team (1943-1945.) He always is telling me some stories about back in the days but sometimes he get bad flashbacks and doesn't talk. I have got a book on it called the "Battling Buzzards" The odyssey of the 517th Parachute Regimental Combat Team. It is a really good book, I have been reading it for some time now off and on. I would like to comment to the people that served in the war not just WWII but any war becouse it takes guts!!! I am not sure I could have the guts to do it. So if anybody hears this message and was in the 517th, please e-mail me. My grandfathyer would love to hear from you. Thanks for everything.

Comments: Most interesting site, got referred here from the Ex Red Devils pages. My interest is due to my Father-in-law who is an ex Para from 11th Btn. in WW2. Thus most interested to read Dan Wrights story on the Veterans page. My Father-in-Law is Robert (Bob) Davenport and he now lives in Blackpool. I am trying to piece together his active service and have hit a brick wall with his drop at D-Day. He was 'on loan' from 11th Btn. to another unit (he can't recall as he has had a mild stroke) and wounded on the first night/day near Caen. He lost his best friend of 3 years on that drop and I would like to trace his grave but we don't have his name! Hopeless task perhaps but if anyone has a suggestion please e-mail me. Keep up the good work - next time Bob visits I will show him your pages.

Comments: You should really view-the-source/edit your sign guestbook page on guestworlds server & then save it to your website. This would allow you to modify it to your heart's content & match it up with the rest of your site. Visit my site & see what I have done with my sign guestbook page! I leave you with one tip: to turn off all images in your guestbook all you have to do is to have your website linked to the original URL with "&images=off" added on to the end. This will cause your guestbook to always be viewed with the images off in the visitors comments field thereby letting your guestbook load faster. As an example here is how my original guestbook link looked like:View My Guestbook! Here's what my guestbook link now looks like with the images turned off: View My Guestbook! If you want more guestbook tips (like how to add music to the view guestbook), just e-mail me with your questions.Always Agnostically & non-theistically yours,John 'Proverbs 31:6-7' Mehlberg

Comments: Hello - Great web site! Was my first find and like the links to other sites. Ex-Para - 9th Independent Para Sqn, R.E. 70-72. Came out here mid 70's. Have two of my brothers living in Scotland - love the Argyll Mountains - all those trees, 'made me feel at home' when I visited one of them a few years back! Have a son who is an Officer in the Canadian Forces Reserve (still at university) who is working towards joining The Parachute Regiment after he gets his degree. - Will obviously be one of the proudest days of both our lives! I am a member of the Airborne Engineers Association (a fellow called Charlie Dunk has just started a web site for them over there - you may want to visit) as well as The Parachute Regimental Association. Anytime you want to 'chat' or just curious as to 'what's going on' this neck of the woods, drop me some e-mail. Read your guestbook - Record # 55 Rob Murray - also from British Columbia - his request was for info on Field Marshall Montgomeries quotes? I have some military biographies and one specifically on him - your welcome to give him my e-mail and I'll see what I can find for him - if he's close by? My phone: area code 604, 944-5970. Best wishes mate. Derik.

I am an ex patatrooper; served in Viet Nam in the mid 60s, and still maintain some friendships from those years I have an unusual request to make; While I am by trade a guitar maker, I also breed bloodhounds, and am involved in search and rescue work. The French use the breed as military dogs, and, as the breed is French, they may have methods that are more developed that those of other nations. I would like to obtain any French training Manuals available with reference to K9 operations, Etc. If, by chance , there are among you any French 'troopers, or persons who could get such publications, I would greatly appreciate the assistance ALL THE WAY! Andy

Comments: Very interesting website. I want to invite everyone to the CJD Voice website. Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease is a horrendous infectious fatal braiin-deteriorating disease One strain, nvCJD, is related to Mad Cow Disease in England. We have classical CJD in the US. 13% of Alzheimer patients in 1 study were found on autopsy to have CJD. Some cases are genetic. Some the cause is unknown. People have gotten CJD from contaminated cadaver-derived growth hormones (GH), surgical equipment since normal sterilization doesn't kill the infectious agent and from dura mater (used in brain surgery and other surgeries) and cornea transplants Come visit the CJD Voice website to learn more about CJD, mad cow disease and prions.

Comments: Sorry I couldn't visit for long last time. I had involvement with 15 para, and aided in the struggle to try to keep it going. I also have a passing interst in our local "Red Berret Int" asso'n. I would be obliged if you could give me a run down on where 15 now stand. Are they still 15 company 10 Para, and how are the now broken up between the various company locations. I also cannot see a listing for the scottish ta-sas reg. Have they been disbanded too. Thanks for a wonderful page. Best regards If you wanna be a bear...........

I had the proud honor of pounding BLOOD WINGS into one of your troopers. I am sure he enjoyed nailing his wings in my chest. I wish to incorperate personal stories with photos of the veterans and the equipments and uniforms they wore-to see a sample of my book-please visit my site-here you'll see a "sample guide" as the book manily deals with kit-though I want to add a personal touch with some veteran's stories. I look forward to hearing from you! By the way, to show you how keen I am-I've done two jumps in Holland with full WWII kit and round military chutes-I had to lie to pass my Doctors physical-as I have metal pins in each knee holding my legs together-I had to jump to get a taste of what you gentlemen went through-it was one of the most memorable experiences of my life:-) And I got a nice concussion to boot:-)! He was one of the few who made it across the river and although I never knew him (he left us during the war) I was hoping that eventually I might find somebody who did. I realise that this is a long shot given the passage of time, but one can only hope. I have his campaign medals and his military record from 1932 to the end of the war. If you have no objections I would like to forward you further details (via e-mail)at some stage. Dick Rudd

Comments: Hello. I am trying to find a source for a quotation my father often made about FM Bernard Montgomery. My father said that Montgomery, upon taking over the 8th Army in Egypt, took officers to task for not keeping their soldiers informed about the war. According to my father, Montgomery said he would sack any officer whose soldiers did not know where they were and why they were there. I would like to have this quote and a source for a report I am preparing on communication at work. I am a police officer and think this story - which I presume to be true - is an excellent example of someone who realized the importance of communication. I need this information quite soon. If you know of anyone who is familiar with biographies of Montgomery, I would sure appreciate having their email address. Thank you. Rob

I have been looking for some members of our branch, but couldn't find one! Too bad, I just wish I could meet someone of you in person. I got an request from al lady who is looking for details on her brother who was killed during Market Garden. His name is: 872059 Bombardier Leslie Ronald Cook, 1st Airlanding Anti-Tank Battery Royal Artillery. She wants to know more about her brother, did anyone know him? He was killed in action on Sept 20th. Thanks....

HIS NAME IS ROBERT DOUGLAS, AND HE CAME FROM DUNDEE SCOTLAND. HE WAS ACTIVE IN THE GULF WAR WHERE HE GOT SHOT. HE IS NOW BACK IN THE UK APPLYING TO GET BACK INTO THE ARMY. HE WANTS TO REJOIN THE PARAS BUT THAT MEANS HE HAS A LONG WAIT ON HIS HANDS, WITH THE PROCESS OF SELECTION ETC TAKING A WHILE. ANYWAY, GREAT TO KNOW THAT THIS SIT EXISTS, AND I'LL TELL HIM TO POP BY IF HE'S IN THE AREA, OR IF HE GET'S ACCESS TO A COMPUTER.
