I was born in Dorset on the
south coast of England in 1968.
It all started by having
been involved in many productions at school culminating in playing Danny
in "Grease the Musical" and a stint in the National Youth
Theatre.
After a brief spell in the
world of computers and banking, I went off to study theatre and communication
at Huddersfield University. During which time I was involved in all
aspects of acting, directing, lighting, stage management, and sound,
performing in successful productions of Wedekind's "Spring Awakening"
and Ionesco's "Rhinoceros". In my final year at University
I formed, with fellow students, Berserk Theatre Company, touring a successful
production of "Look Back in Anger" - playing Jimmy Porter.
Having graduated, my training
continued with two years of weekly repertory theatre with Bridge Theatre
Company - one of the few surviving rep companies. My first professional
role was as John Shand in JM Barrie's, "What Every Woman Knows"
at the Chesterfield Pomegranate.
Some of the other performances
with Bridge Theatre Company include Chris Keller in "All My Sons",
Fred Beanstock in "Hobson's Choice", Jan Warwick in "The
Unexpected Guest", Jack Chesney in "Charlie's Aunt",
various characters in an adaptation of "Under Milk Wood" and
a tour of "As You Like It" playing Oliver de Boys.
It was during this time that
I was signed up with an agent and soon got my first television job as
a male nurse in Coronation Street. This has been followed by roles in
programmes such as Heartbeat, Emmerdale, Seeing Red and the Bill to
name but a few.
As well as the television
I've worked in various theatres around the country, toured with plays,
appeared on Radio and film, as well as presenting and doing voice overs,
on everything from corporate videos to computer games.
When I'm not acting I enjoy
DIY, windsurfing, and designing web sites for fellow actors and small
companies.
