Thomas Markham, of Ollerton and Kirby Bellars, high steward of Mansfield, Ranger of Sherwood Forest, standard bearer to Queen Elizabeth's band of gentlemen pensioners, and high sheriff of Nottingham in 1577. His sons became Roman Catholics, for which he humbly apologized to Lord Burghley, in letters dated 1592 and 1594.
