[NI393] William Markham, born 5 Apr 1760, was private secretary to Warren Hastings in 1781, was appointed Resident at Benares, returned to England 1783. He seated himself at Becca Hall, near Aberford, and was D.L. for co. York. Married 20 Aug 1795, died 1 Jan 1815.

Elizabeth, daughter of Oldfield Bowles Esq., of North Aston, co. Oxford, who married 2ndly, in 1822, to Alexander Mure Esq., died at Great Horkesley, co. Essex, 25 Mar 1841.
