[NI398] John Markham, born 13 Jun 1761, in the navy, commanded the Sphinx , Blonde and Hannibal, in the West Indies, and the Centaur in the Mediterranean, when he captured three French frigates; admiral and lord of the Admiralty, 1801-4 and 1806-7. MP for Portsmouth 1801-1826, married 27 Nov 1796, died 13 Feb 1827.

I have not treated this Sir Robert Markham as the same person as Sir Robert Markham (son of John Markham of Sireston) in the same/similar generation of Line-7 Markham. Partly because I can not be sure that they are (they are not directly indicated on the tree as such), and also because the Sir Robert Markham in Line-7 does not have a daughter by the name of Mary indicated by either of his two wives.
