Frances Gowens
Frances was a brilliant woman and recieved top honors in Canada when she graduated from high school. She went on to become a
sociologist and recieved a Ph.D from Columbia University. She had a sucessful career and pursued many interesting subjects including the effects of the drug LSD. She herself took this drug and studied its use as a tool for creating insight in alcoholics.
She worked with Humphrey Osmond and with Timothy Leary, the author of the famous (at least in America ) phrase:
Turn on, tune in, drop out ". She finished her career in the state of New Jersey . She created a workbook designed to help prison inmates change their behavior and learn relaxation techniques.
Unfortunately she died in 1983 shortly after the birth of her grand-daughter Julia.
