Charles Walter Bourne
"Charlie" Bourne was a cavalryman in the army in India.
He once gave some linament to his cousin Doris Elizabeth Markham (né Arnold), as a remedy for a burn on the leg of her son.
In fact it subsequently made matters worse; in response said Charlie, "It always worked fine on the horses!".
He left a writing slope to his cousin Doris. It is now owned by her grandson.
