The Chichester Singers are an established part of musical life in Chichester and West Sussex, having celebrated their 50th anniversary some six years ago. The choir has over 135 members and, under our Conductor and Director of Music, Jonathan Willcocks, our repertoire includes many highly acclaimed performances of the great choral works, with first-class professional soloists and orchestras.   We currently work with Southern Pro Musica (www.southernpromusica.org ).  Most of all, we enjoy our music and want to share that enjoyment with our audiences and members, who come both from the city and further afield.

In March 2008 we much enjoyed performing Jonathan's work A Great and Glorious Victory, commissioned to mark the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Trafalgar.   At the end of March this year we had a wonderful time performing Will Todd's jazz and blues mass Mass in Blue (see Recent Reviews).  In July we gave a sell-out performance of Elijah, with Sir Willard White in the title role.  All our major concerts are in Chichester Cathedral.

During the past 15 years we have been visiting European cities for short concert tours.   These have included Paris, Chartres (with which Chichester is twinned), Brussels, Ghent and also Ravenna (another Chichester 'twin') and Padua in Italy. In 2002 we travelled to Andalucia and gave concerts in Granada and Seville, and in May 2005 we enjoyed a very successful tour to Hungary.    This picture shows our concert in the Matthias Church, Budapest.

Our  most recent musical expedition to Europe was in October 2007, when we gave concerts in Dubrovnik Cathedral in Croatia and Kotor Cathedral in Montenegro. We were delighted to be the first British choir to perform in St. Tryphon's Cathedral in Kotor.

In May 2011 we are off to the historic islands of Malta and Gozo.

The choir's first CD, featuring Bernstein's Chichester Psalms and Dvořák's Mass in D is now available on the Herald label.
