Comments:

I am indebted to John Bosworth for the card and narrative for this steamer.

This small, 72 ft steamer was only 24 grt but could take 190 passengers. Built as New St George, she dropped the "New" and was renamed Prince George in 1910. As can be seen from the picture, boarding was effected via a small floating landing stage at Conway and the landing stage was headed by the hulls of old sailing ships. From Conway the steamer went to Deganwy and on to Trefriw on trips advertising that passengers could "See the Rhine of Wales". In the 1930's the rise of the motor coach meant that passengers could travel further and cheaper in a day and trade gradually dwindled away. As the senior member of the St George Steamship fleet, Prince George was scrapped in 1936 after 45 years service.
