SPECIAL CLASSES for writers who are or have been workingon novels, short stories and other forms of narrative fiction, and who encounter
difficulty concluding their work effectively or satisfactorily. This type of workshop is derived entirely from a study of the practical problems that writers encounter in
completing an 'ambitious' creative piece.
- It provides a stimulating technique-based environment in which to work on craft, structure, language, voice, POV and to refine themes and subject matter
- It looks closely at the myth or reality of writers' block including effective ways of dealing with it.
- It also looks at objective ways of assessing the strength of one's work as well as the advantages and disadvantages of goal-focused writing
- Participants are encouraged to critique their work, and uncover what motivates their writing
This course is for the writer who:
- has work that is important but has difficulty completing it or feeling 'stuck' at a particular stage.
- needs to get to grips with the difficulties of organising the way events flow in the narrative.
- is working on a piece and wants a 'focused' environment in which to progress
