Working it all out The Music Centre was established in 1997. The Rotary Club in Gibraltar was mainly responsible for providing the funds to equip this department. We now have a set of percussion instruments and recorders as well as three keyboards, three guitars, an amplifier, loudspeakers, a tape recorder and four microphones.
Listening attentively Children from Nowak Junior School have been coming for lessons in percussion and recorder playing. Last year a teacher joined the children in learning how to read music and play the recorder. The aim is to have this teacher take the beginner classes in school next year. Practising for the show
The junior school choir now has quite a repertoire of songs in their mother tongue, Nama, and in their national language, English. The choir leads the singing at the children's church service every Wednesday evening. This is how it's done
In the year 2000, the Junior Choir together with the Youth Choir of the Junior Secondary School took part in the first musical ever to be staged in the village. Following the success of this first production, it is hoped that a second musical will be staged this year.
The Parish Choir of St Therese has weekly practices at the Learning Centre.
