MELTING MOMENTS

A recipe from my granny. I seem to remember them actually being coated in crushed-up cornflakes, but the recipe suggests otherwise. If anyone knows to the contrary, please let me know!!

Makes 12.

INGREDIENTS

4oz butter

4oz caster sugar

1 egg

6oz self-raising flour

Pinch of salt

2oz rolled oats

12 half glacé cherries

METHOD

Beat the butter into the sugar until soft and creamy. Beat in the egg, together with one spoonful of flour. Fold in the remaining flour and salt and mix to form a dough. Form the mixture into 12 balls and coat in the rolled oats. Top with a cherry and bake at 180°C/Gas Mark 4 for 20 minutes.
